Private Equity Holding Jurisdictions

Regulatory and Tax Changes in China, India, US and Europe -How do they impact the Asian Private Equity Industry?

Part 1 – Update on fund regulation in Europe and United States – and the consequences for Private Equity Funds in Asia!
Both the European Commission and the United States Congress are issuing more stringent compliance rules and regulations for the fund industry. We will briefly discuss the consequences of these new rules for the Asian Private Equity funds.

Part 2 – How to best structure your acquisition further to the tax changes in China and India?
In this part, the speakers will briefly outline the opportunities to lower tax costs so to increase the fund’s return by setting up intermediate holding companies. The countries which are typically considered as intermediate holding jurisdictions will be presented from a tax and practical perspective. Further, local developments (China, India etc.) which may limit the benefits of offshore holding structures will be discussed.

The Quebec City Conference, Oct 25 & 26, 2010

Now in its seventh year, the Quebec City Conference (“QCC”) is a private, by invitation-only and not-for-profit annual conference for leading international venture capital and PE firms, institutional and strategic investors, sovereign wealth funds and family offices whose activities produce tangible economic gain and societal benefit, and for public policy makers, industry experts and leading academics in this investment field, in a format intended for high level exchanges and reflection. Overview of the two day program (Monday and Tuesday, October 25 and 26).

  • First Day (October 25): 9:00 am to 5:00 pm – The Following By-Invitation-Only Forums are Held:
    • Institutional Investors Forum (“IIF”) is a round table discussion for the most senior executives of major global investors (pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, government reserve funds and other long term investors) focused on addressing challenges of large-scale investment and exploring new models required to access these investments efficiently.
    • Public Policy Forum on Venture Capital and Innovation (“PPF”) has evolved into the premiere gathering of public policy makers and industry leaders (GPs, LPs, academics and other experts) responsible for encouraging high-potential entrepreneurship and venture capital from all major economies. Its objective is to give participants an opportunity to exchange views and concerns regarding public policies in support of a buoyant venture capital ecosystem to finance emerging technology companies. Now in its fourth year, it is an invitation-only event building upon the international audience developed by the Quebec City Conference. Despite substantial demand, attendees are limited to 100.
    • LP Forum (“LPF”) organized under the leadership of Thomson Reuters is intended for senior managers of institutional investors, gatekeepers, funds of funds and asset managers who are investors in private equity or venture capital funds (no direct investors are invited).
    • Family Offices Forum (“FOF”) is a premier gathering of senior managers of large family offices. It is a private round table discussion for sharing perspectives and exploring best practices and investment models.
  • First Day (October 25): 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm – Official Opening of Quebec City Conference – All Participants Attend Cocktail and Stand-up Dinner.
